Because RetroMedia have outlawed DVD recorders, we can offer very flexible transfers services. If anyone baulks at being able to offer any of the options listed below, you’ll know that they transfer your precious memories using inferior domestic equipment.
1. Time-base Correction & Digital Noise Reduction, to better stabilize the picture. Anyone offering a “professional” transfer service should offer the option of time base correction if they care about your videos looking their best, so make sure to ask! Time-base correction If you’ve got an old tape that needs a touch of restoration you’ll want to make sure that you choose us over the guys who only use their home VCR.
2. “Top & Tail” Editing included free.. Junk on your tape?.. Our free included Top & Tail Edit - removing blanks, static, or unwanted footage from the start or end of your program - is included with all Video to DVD Transfers. Companies who hide that they use DVD recorders will not be able to offer this service.. for free or otherwise.... If your content needs further editing, a full edit service is available.
3. Optional “Technical Flaws” Edit - for around $10 per hour of content* we’ll remove all instances of technically imperfect video - blanks, static, roll, blue-screens, and any instances where the camera was clearly left running unintentionally. Once again, competitors who hide that they use DVD recorders will not be able to offer this service. (*Approximate cost only - charged at hourly editing rates).
4. Optional “Compilation” DVDs. We offer joining of short tapes together onto cost-saving Compilation DVDs. If it’s not important for you to have each individual tape on its own DVD, our short tape compilation option might interest you. Save $5.00, (the cost of a DVD), for each additional tape we can squeeze on for you. More...
5. Optional Video Content Report service. If you are unable to view your tapes, we’ll watch them (after digitising) and report back to you what we find, saving you the costs of having unwanted footage burned to DVD. Priced at $7.50 per tape.
6. Optional Video Content Review service. With this option if you are unable to view your tapes, but you want them all digitised, we’ll rent you a Hard Drive loaded with your footage so you can review your footage. From there you can pick & choose what you want to keep & what you want to lose before having us burn your DVDs, thereby ensuring that your finished DVDs will look exactly as you want them to. Once again, backyard operators who obscure the truth that they use domestic DVD recorders will not be able to offer a service like this.
7. Optional “Guaranteed Action Safe” process. With a RetroMedia video transfer your video can be resized to guarantee that it is “Action Safe”. What does that mean? That simply means that none of your footage is at any risk of having any of its extremities hidden by the bezel of your TV screen. The bezel or “frame” of almost all TVs hides some percentage of the image being shown. This is a hang over from the old cathode tube TVs - a practice known as “overscan” that manufacturers used to get their reject screen numbers down.
Our “Guaranteed Action Safe” resizing process ensures that you will see more of your footage than you’ve ever seen before.. Compare this guarantee with our competitors! 8. On-disc colour printed DVDs (no sticky labels). Great looking DVDs that look right at home among the rest of your DVD collection. These can be further customized with your individual details printed on the disc face & with optional full colour printed DVD library cases.
9. Optional Movie Titles - we can add an attractive & informative title to the start of your movie.. Please be sure to include written instructions if your tape does not have accurate information on the label, and keep your description to around 6 - 8 words if possible. Competitors who deny that they use domestic DVD recorders will not be able to offer this service.
10. Only the highest quality DVD-Rs used.. We’ve done testing, read about testing, discussed testing and well..? We stand by our media as the best all round DVD-R choice available.
11. Optional 24K Gold Archival DVDs upgrade available. For the most valuable memories, for when you absolutely have to know it will last more than a lifetime we exclusively offer Verbatim Gold Archival DVDs - guaranteed to last 100 yrs. Add $7.50 for this upgrade.
12. Optional Tape Cleaning service. For the best possible finished product, start with the cleanest possible tapes. We clean more videotapes than anyone - mouldy tapes, dirty tapes, tapes shedding their oxide - we clean ‘em all! Priced at $7.50 for a single “Spring Clean”. Or you can choose our Value Transfer package, which bundles a single clean with each tape transfer for only $2.50 per tape! Or choose our Pro Transfers & get tape cleaning along with an upgrade using our restoration-grade ultra high-end pro equipment for just $15 per tape!
PS. We can clean or repair any broken tapes you may have before conversion to DVD.
